What is a Combination (Combi) Boiler?

A Combination (Combi) Boiler is the name given to a boiler that provides heat for central heating and heats water instantaneously on demand. Combination Boilers do not need to store hot water in a copper cylinder which leads to elimination of hot water storage components, saving you space and reducing heat loss common with stored hot water. This improves  energy efficiency and also means that there are fewer components in the heating system.

Combi Boilers are also considered to be amongst the easiest systems to install, because they eliminate the need for both an expansion tank in the loft and a hot water cylinder in an airing cupboard. 

Combi Boilers provide maximum pressure through only one tap at a time. If you have two taps running, the flow rate is diminished in one (or both) of the taps. So, if you require high temperatures with a high output flow rate from your combi boiler, choose a high capacity or a storage combi boiler.
