Traders Sales Leads - How it Works

The sales lead has been generated either through our market lead generation activities or through a request for a building trades quotation from a customer of plumbtraders.co.uk or one of its sister sites. Each sales lead irrespective of where it has been derived will be validated by a member of our admin team before it is offered for sale. We will then place the lead for sale on the plumbtraders.co.uk website (with key identifying information removed) at a realistic price. We may also contact our network of approved tradesmen directly either by e-mail, text or mobile telephone call to offer the lead directly at the advertised price. We will only offer the lead for sale to a maximum of 3 of our appointed tradesmen and the customer will be advised of this when they submit their quotation detail.

The customer will be encouraged to accept a maximum of 3 quotes to ensure a fair cross section of companies and therefore the best quote for them.

Validation - The lead will only become valid for sale when: -

  • The customer proves that he/she is the home-owner or an authorised agent and the address and telephone numbers are valid.

  • The property appears suitable for the installation type requested

  • The best contact times have been established

  • The customer confirms that they wish to receive a full no-obligation quotation from a maximum of 3 of our approved trades companies


Rejection Process

Any lead can be considered for rejection and return if it does not meet any of the definition and validation criteria stated above.

If you wish to reject any sales lead you must advise us within 7 days of receipt of the lead by clicking the 'problem with your lead' button on your lead console. This will open a form which we would ask you to fill out stating the reason you are rejecting the lead. We will respond to your rejection request within 48 hours.

Rejection of a lead is solely the responsibility of the trades company and can be communicated in the following ways: -

  • Direct telephone call to 0800 242 5101 advising your reasons for rejection
  • E-mail to admin@plumbtraders.co.uk stating the lead's UIN (Unique Identifying Number) and your reasons for rejection.
  • Completion and return of the 'problem with your lead' form as described above


Providing your rejection communication is received by us within the 7 day rejection window we will consider fairly and objectively whether we consider your reasons for return to be valid and acceptable. Please remember that we wish to retain you as our customer and we will consider all rejection requests in a most sympathetic manner. We will then advise of the outcome. If the rejection request is accepted the cost of the lead will be credited back to your pre-pay account or credit / debit card immediately.

If you cannot contact the customer via the preferred medium you may reject the lead. We will then attempt to contact the customer ourselves on your behalf. If we manage to contact them we will then ascertain if they still require the quotation, if they do we will make the appointment on your behalf and advise you of the agreed date and time. If the customer does not wish to continue with the quotation process we will cancel the lead and credit the cost back to you.

If you are unable to quote because one of your competitors has gained access and closed a deal before you then this cannot be considered a reason for rejection and credit. Once the lead has been released to a maximum of 3 trade recipients the process is then similar to a race and you must be prepared to contact the customer quickly. We will not offer any sales lead for sale where we have prior knowledge that the sale has already been made by one of your competitors.

Duplication - If you receive the same lead from other sources this can be considered as a valid reason for rejection. In this instance you must reject it within the 48 hour window as explained above and prove that the other source delivered the lead before we did. If it cannot be proved that PlumbTraders was not first to send you the lead then no refund can be offered.

If the customer cancels your appointment after you have confirmed the time and date you are then able to reject the lead and receive a refund.If you fail to confirm an appointment with a customer and subsequently they are not in if you call you cannot reject this lead
You are not allowed to reject a lead after you re-organise an appointment and the customer becomes unavailable.


You cannot reject a lead if after you have attended and quoted for a particular job the customer then chooses another supplier.


You cannot reject a lead once accepted because it becomes overlooked in your general workload, or you change your opinion of its attractiveness or you do not have time to go. From our point of view once you have bought it we may withdraw it from sale and it would then become unfair if you rejected it through your own choice.


We will contact all customers to gain feedback on their experience with all appointed trades companies. It is critical that we all provide exemplary communication and service to ensure that our joint reputations allow us to continue to drive and satisfy demand of this sort. If we find that any of our registered trades companies fall below the high standards expected in any part of their service delivery or performance we will reserve the right to suspend or cancel the account of the offending company.

It is our intention to launch review pages on plumbtradersquotes.co.uk to allow customers to give feedback on the quality and service of their chosen trades company and this is an opportunity for all companies including ourselves to build a solid reputation.

Q. Can we access our leads at any time?

A. Yes! When we have validated a lead we will place it for sale on your lead console. Once you have added the lead to your basket and paid for it we will provide you with immediate access to the customer detail.

Q. How long will it take for you to release the full lead detail once purchased?

A. You will receive the full information immediately

Q. Will the customer be expecting our call?

A. YES ! once we have received a quotation request from the customer we will contact them to validate the lead. We will find out the full extent of their requirements and when they would prefer to be called by the trades company. Remember, many of our customers have already purchased their product or products from us and will be just as keen as you to organise and pay for a quality installation.

Q. Do we have to pre-pay for leads?

A. No, unlike most other lead generation companies we do not require any money up front. This way you know that if you wish to purchase a lead and add it to your basket you will only be charged for what you actually buy. However, you may find it tiresome to input your credit card details every time you wish to pay for a lead. If this is the case you are able to pre-pay for lead credit in £100.00 bundles. Click the lead credit button on your console and follow the instructions.

Please let the customer know early in your first contact with them that you are responding to a request provided by PlumbTraders. This will ensure that the customer will know who you are and what you are calling for.
