All parties have included environmental policies in their campaigns to show how they will deal with issues of climate change if they are elected. The Labour party has pledged to increase employment opportunities and lower costs through their Pay as you Save scheme. The Labour party aims to create over 400, 000 green jobs within the next five years alone.

The Conservative party intends to fight climate change by introducing smart meter technology and also by rewarding the general public for recycling. Aiming to combat waste is among their other future goals.

The Liberal Democrats have pledged to lower electricity costs by using a smart metering system but also promises that 20 per cent of energy will come from a renewable source in the next 10 years.
